Ultrafine Silk Batak Ulos Tumtuman, North Sumatra Songket

This is a very elegant and beautiful design from the Karo Batak people of Northern Sumatra near Lake Toba. This is traditionally used as a "Mas Kawin" or dowry gift and is an incredibly elegant and intricate Tumtuman design which refers to the quintessentially Bata geometric designs which give this textile incredible character and style. This is a modern and elegant interpretation of the classic Tumtuman, considered to the the highest quality Batak Ulos. It is given to brides to demonstrate unity and prosperity in the new union.
